FLASH
FLASH is a comprehensive science-based sexual health education curriculum designed to prevent pregnancy, STDs and sexual violence. It is deigned to be used in school classrooms, as a part of a health unit, although it can be successfully implemented in a variety of environments. It does not require training, and provides substantial teacher support so that it can be immediately implemented when ready. It includes a strong family involvement component, creating opportunities for families to talk with their children about important sexual health topics. It is an inclusive curriculum, including examples and activities that will resonate with youth from a variety of geographical regions, racial identities, and sexual orientations. It is highly interactive and is respectful of students with a variety of sexual experiences. There are also lessons for special education students.
Reducing the Risk
Reducing the Risk (RTR) is a 16-session curriculum designed to help high school students delay the initiation of sex or increase the use of protection against pregnancy and STD/HIV if they choose to have sex. This research-proven approach addresses skills such as risk assessment, communication, decision making, planning, refusal strategies and delay tactics. Proven effective in 3 studies, RTR has been chosen as an effective evidence-based program by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Office of Adolescent Health and other national organizations recognized as authorities on teen pregnancy prevention, including Emerging Answers 2007 and What Works 2010: Curriculum-Based Programs That Help Prevent Teen Pregnancy, The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy; Programs That Work, 2010, Promising Practices Network; and Science and Success, Second Edition: Sex Education and Other Programs that Work to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, HIV & Sexually Transmitted Infections, Advocates for Youth.
Get Real
Get Real is one of only a few middle school programs that reduces risky sexual behavior for BOTH boys and girls. Additionally, boys who completed the Get Real take-home activities in 6th grade were more likely to delay sex in the 8th grade than boys who did not complete these activities. The Get Real middle school curriculum consists of 27 sequential lessons taught across the middle school years—9 lessons each in Grades 6, 7 and 8. The high school curriculum consists of 11 sequential lessons taught in Grade 9 or 10. Get Real is designed to delay sex and increase correct and consistent use of protection methods when a person becomes sexually active. The Get Real curriculum is based on state and national frameworks that emphasize social and emotional learning skills such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making. A recent study demonstrated that, among students who received Get Real, 16% fewer boys and 15% fewer girls had sex compared to their peers who did not take Get Real.

Created specifically for 6th, 7th and 8th grade, Above the Waist: Sexuality Education Beginning with the Brain reflects cutting edge research in the field of adolescent brain development and engages learners through innovate, hands-on, and adaptable activities. Too often, teachers do not receive enough training to be well-versed in the subject of sexuality, particularly about birth control, which is ever-changing. During our 30 year history of providing professional development, teachers have told us there isn't enough time, funding or quality training to meet their needs. Additionally, many teacher preparation programs do not even include or require a human sexuality course. Therefore, teachers are often learning on the job, versus having the training and resources they need to be effective.
