Sex Education Training for Middle & High School Teachers

Supporting Teachers and students with sexual and reproductive health education

Held on the Teachers College, Columbia University campus, this fully-funded program consists of a teacher training on sex education with a focus on Reproductive Identity Formation (RIF). Please note: the 2021 training will be held online. Learn more about this emerging concept by reading the debut paper here and other coverage here.

This specialized training supports the adolescent development of decision-making and perspective-taking skills for intentional pregnancy prevention and reproductive life planning. Participants learn from content area experts, explore their own personal values and norms, and discuss how to then similarly engage their students. A foundational core skills training on sex education may also be provided along with classroom materials.

While applications from NYC DOE teachers are prioritized, anyone who is teaching sex ed to high school or middle school students is welcome to apply.
